Hey! I'm Ashley. I'm from a little country town in Michigan, but currently live in sunny Southwest Florida. Above all, I am a momma. When I'm not pretending like I've got it together as a parent of 2, you can find me creating images. Though I don't find the time enough lately, I also love to spend time with my other half, Mike. I love to frequent the clearance racks at Target and on any given day, I enjoy an iced coffee or a cold beer. The only other way I can describe myself is with this quote I saw the other day: "I'm an overly emotional unemotional clingy but distant private person who likes to overshare at any moment..." and I'm still trying to figure out how that works.
Growing up, I was always "interested" in photography. I took photos of EVERYTHING. But let's be honest, I had no idea what I was actually doing with my Polaroid i-zone (but that sticky film was the bomb, amiright?!).
I changed my mind like 152 times about what I wanted to be when I "grew up". When I was 18 I got my license as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I worked in healthcare for 6 years. I studied Education, I studied Nursing, I studied Sonography, I considered many other things in between.....
After I had my first baby in 2013, I really fell in love with the art of photography. The moment frozen in time, because God knows they get away from us way too fast. Mike bought me my first DSLR camera for Christmas in 2014 and I dove into the art head first.
I studied photography courses and attended workshops. Lighting, posing, aperture, lenses, software, editing, film, technology......... I learned how much more is involved in the creation of beautiful images than clicking a shutter on an expensive camera (it's true, sorry friends). When I felt I was kind of ready, Two Ferns was born in February 2015. And I still learn something new everyday.
It has been quite a journey raising this business up, but I wouldn't trade it for a thing. I can truly say I adore what I do. I love my clients who become friends. I love romance and emotion and love. I love being able to tell a true story through real moments, and provide my clients with art that is going to last lifetimes.
